To identify your series, check the aluminum tag affixed to the interior face of the bottom section, usually on the left-hand stile. The tag lists the model prefix (VLX-6000 or VLX-8000), the nominal door size, the wind-load rating, and the original NOA number. If the tag is missing or painted over, measure the track width with a tape measure: 2-inch track means 6000 Series, 3-inch means 8000 Series. Do not guess. Ordering hardware for the wrong series results in rollers that bind in the track or hinges that misalign by a half-inch, and that half-inch will cost you a second truck roll.

We source OEM ViewLux parts direct from the manufacturer’s Florida distribution center. Aftermarket equivalents exist for rollers, hinges, and weatherseal, but we do not use aftermarket for impact-rated panels, torsion spring assemblies, or any component that carries the NOA certification. • The door hangs crooked in the opening. Usually a failed cable or a seized roller on one side. The remaining cable carries uneven load, pulling the door out of plumb. Once the laminate separates or the skin cracks, the wind-load rating is void. Your insurance documentation and your permit compliance both depend on that rating being intact.
• Gaps of light or water at the bottom or sides when closed. The vinyl or rubber weatherseal has hardened or torn. Tamiami’s summer UV exposure and standing water during storm season accelerate this. The seal is inexpensive to replace, but the water intrusion it prevents is not.
• Loud grinding or popping during operation. Worn rollers, dry bearings, or a bent track section. The 6000 Series rollers are rated for 10,000 cycles; in a household with two daily departures and returns, that is roughly 7 years. DIY or Call Us?

There is one safe DIY check: with the door closed and the opener disconnected, lift the door manually. It should move smoothly and stay at waist height when released.
